Simple Harmonic Motion Demonstration Model  [109.5 PH]
Demonstrates the relationship between simple harmonic motion & uniform motion round a circle. The unit consists of a black metal disc approx. 200 mm in dia supported on clear plastic base white marker 13 mm dia may be rotated just inside the periphery of the disc by means of a handle at the rear of the disc. Similar marker moves along a slot across the diameter of the disc, always in phase with the peripheral marker, performing simple harmonic motion when the handle is turned at a uniform speed. May be used with the slot horizontal or vertical.
Ripple Tank  [109.6 PH]
A wooden framed tray with sloping position inside to minimise unwanted reflection from the sides of the tank; with perspex plastic base & 4 detachable legs. Size of the tray 650 x 520 x 55 mm. Support rod with 'G' clamps are provided for using to carry waves generating system. Four metal barriers ( reflectors ) consisting of a pair of straight barriers 150 x 25 mm chord barrier of 215 mm chord length, 25 mm high & a short straight barrier. Ripples are produced by a small 1.5 to 4.5 V DC electric motor mounted on a 330 mm wooden bar having a row of holes to mount spherical dipper. Complete with 12 V illuminator with clamp.

Dual Purpose Ripple Tank  [109.8 PH]
It is used as a demonstration model with an Overhead Projector. Comprises a steel frame with an acrylic window. The frame is shared to form beaches on all sides to minimise unwanted reflections & fits neatly onto an overhead projector. The undersides of the frame has threaded metal inserts to take the four legs provided enabling the tank to be used as a free standing beach model, if required. Facilities are provided for mounting the ripple tank illuminant for this purpose. A gantry is supplied for supporting a motor beam, the height of which is easily adjustable allowing it to be positioned for maximum effect. Ripples are produced by a small 1.5 to 4.5 V DC motor mounted on the plastic beam of 240 mm length. A standard cam is fitted to the motor spindle to give an oscillatory motion & row of nine holes in the beam are for mounting the spherical dippers for production of circular ripples.
Hand Stroboscope  [109.9 PH]

A slotted hardboard disc, with finger hole, is pivoted on a bearing mounted which also acts as a convenient handle. The disc has twelve radial slots 50 x 3 mm extending to its edge.

The instrument is housed in a strong metal case provided with a carry handle & rubber feet. An inclined rear panel carries the flash rate control, range selector, sockets, & switch for external synchronisation; & the power on/off switch.

Electrical Vibrator  [109.21 PH]
For Melde's & other experiments. A steel rod is clamped near one end through two 4 mm terminals. The rod passes through a small solenoid & between the poles of a magnet. Adjustable contact points fitted through another pair of terminals make alternating connection with an adjustable contact on the rod. The rod has a small hole at one end for the attachment of thread which passes over a bench mounting pulley & supports a scale pan. For 2 V Ac supplies. Complete with pulley & clamp, scale pan, & instructions.

With graduated sliding piston. The organ pipe is of a square section, of polished wood & fitted with a tapered mouthpiece. The slider is also square in section 32 x 32 mm, of wood & with a knob at the end for easy control. The slider has a scribed & lettered line for each note which may be aligned with the end of the pipe to give a diatonic scale from C256 to C512.

A set of four toothed wheels 75 mm dia on a common spindle. The wheels have 40, 50, 60, & 80 teeth respectively, giving intervals of 1:5/4:3/2:2 & thus forming the basic major chord.

Consists of a glass tube heavy walled 1350 x 32 mm with cork bung, short & long ebonite rod, cork pistons, mounted on a polished wooden board 1520 x 125 x 22 mm with spring clamps. The long ebonite piston is supported by wood clamp secured with wing nuts.
